八年级下册Unit 4 Section A的阅读语篇(拓展语篇1)
Dear Mr Hunt,
My problem is that I can't get on with my family. Relations between my parents have become difficult. They fight a lot, and I really don't like it. It's the only communication they have. I don't know if I should say anything to them about this. When they argue, it's like a big, black cloud hanging over our home. Also, my elder brother is not very nice to me. He always refuses to let me watch my favorite TV show. Instead he watches whatever he wants until late at night. I don't think this is fair. At home I always feel lonely and nervous. Is that normal? What can I do?
Sad and Thirteen
Dear Sad and Thirteen,
It's not easy being your age, and it's normal to have these feelings. Why don't you talk about these feelings with your family? If your parents are having problems, you should offer to help. Maybe you could do more jobs around the house so that they have more time for proper communication.
Secondly, why don't you sit down and communicate with your brother? You should explain that you don't mind him watching TV all the time. However, he should let you watch your favorite show. I hope things will be better for you soon.

八年级下册第四单元的阅读语篇Problem Solvers(拓展语篇2)
Problem Solvers
1. I find it hard to control my bad moods. I have them a lot. I try but I can't seem to cheer myself up. Do you have any advice?
2. I always get nervous before tests. I study hard but when the test starts I forget everything. I feel so stupid. What can I do?
3. How can I stop being so shy? I want to make friends, be popular and talk to people easily but I'm not sure how.
4. I'm so upset! I have so much school work to do all the time and I don't know how to manage it all. What should I do?
a. Most people are shy from time to time so you're not alone. If you meet new people, ask them about their interests and their everyday life. It's a great way to break the ice and turn strangers into friends. Start making friendly conversations today. You won't develop your social skills unless you try.
b. Trust yourself. If you study hard every day, you'll achieve your goals. When you're taking your exam, pay attention to your answers and don't think about your grades. If you worry too much, it won't help you produce good results.
c. It's common to be in low spirits sometimes but it's unhealthy to often have bad moods. If you feel yourself getting angry, take ten deep breaths. It'll help you cool down. If you're feeling upset, try talking about your problems with somebody you trust.
d. You won't improve your situation unless you relax. Speak to your parents and your teacher and explain the problem. Then make a plan. You'll succeed if you do one thing at a time and stick to your plan.

九年级上册Unit 3 Teenage Problems Reading语篇
Dear Mr Friend,
I am a Grade 9 student. I have a problem and I do not know how I should deal with it.
I have a lot of homework every day, and I have no choice but to do it. I often have to stay up late. Then I sometimes find it hard to stay awake the next day.
I know it is important to finish all my homework on time. However, I hardly have any spare time for my hobbies like volleyball and music. I cannot imagine my life without hobbies. I often doubt whether it is worth spending so much time on homework.
I dream of a long holiday so that I could have more time for my hobbies. What should I do? Can you offer me some suggestions? I hope to hear from you soon.
Best wishes,
Julie Kim
Dear Mr Friend,
I am in Grade 9. I am crazy about football. I love watching football, reading about football, and, of course, playing football. However, my love of football has become the cause of my problem.
I always play football with my friends after school. We often play for hours and never worry about the time. Sometimes we forget when we should stop. Then I get into trouble because my parents do not allow me to play outside after 6 p.m. I do not understand why they are so strict with me. I feel angry sometimes. I believe it is important to develop our hobbies. They help us relax and make our lives more interesting.
Is it bad to stay out late to play football? Should I spend less time on it? I wonder how I can achieve a balance between my schoolwork and my hobbies. I look forward to your valuable advice.
Best wishes,
Samuel Park
Dear Julie,
Thank you very much for your letter. I hope I can help you.
You said you often stay up late to finish all your homework. Plan your day carefully. Make a list of all the homework you have. Then work out how much time you need to finish it all. This will give you an idea of how much spare time you have.
You also said that you do not have enough time for your hobbies. What about choosing your hobby according to the time you have? For example, play volleyball if you have a lot of time, and listen to music if you only have a short time.
I hope you think my advice is worth taking.
Best wishes,
Sigmund Friend
Dear Samuel,
Thank you for your letter. I hope I can offer you some useful advice.
It seems that you spend a lot of time playing football. Of course, it is very important to develop hobbies. However, it is not wise to spend hours playing football after school.
I agree with your parents that it is better for you to go home earlier. Enjoy your hobby, but do not forget about your schoolwork. Why not just play football for an hour or two, and then go home? Your parents are not strict with you; they just do not want you to stay out so late.
I hope you think my answer is valuable to you.
Best wishes,
Sigmund Friend
