Lots of my friends complain about their parents being over controlling.
Some parents make their children study all the time, and some even watch their children’s every move.
Over controlling parents make their children feel stressed from the big workload, and even lead to rebellious behavior of the children.
To cope with over controlling parents, we should analyze our own behavior, talk to our parents, and seek help from others.

First of all, we should analyze our own behavior.
Parents’ reaction may be due to something bad that we have done.
Therefore, we should analyze our own behavior by asking ourselves questions.
Do we make good use of our time? Do we work hard enough at school? Do we talk to our parents nicely? Do we mingle with right friends? Make sure we do our best to improve the situation by first looking in to our side.

Moreover, we should have an honest talk with our parents.
Our parents don’t always know how their behavior may affect us.
Therefore, we should always try to have a frank conversation with them explaining our feelings calmly.
Tell our parents that we feel frustrated when they interfere too much in our life. Let them know that we feel stressed out from too much work. And tell them honestly that we feel embarrassed when they are getting too protective.

Last, we should seek help from other people.
Parents sometimes are more likely to take others’ suggestions.
So we can ask for help by turning to our friends, our family, and school professionals.
Our friends may offer tips for communicating with parents. Also, family members can help make our parents aware that they are overreacting. The school counsellor may also offer our parents suggestions about how to get on with teenage children.

There is no doubt that parents being over controlling needs to be addressed.
There is a good chance that we will be able to improve the relationship with our parents by minding our own behaviors, talking to parents, and asking others for help.
I hope young people will take a more positive attitude towards the problem with the parents and actively seek for ways to tackle the problem.
