A Big Basketball Fan
Jack is a basketball fan. He loves everything about basketball. He loves drawing pictures about basketball.
He loves watching basketball matches, sometimes on TV, sometimes in the gym. He cheers for his favourite team.
The boys in the school basketball team often play out in the court. Jack really, really wants to join them, but he is not good at basketball.
He's not good at dribbling. Or shooting. Let alone dunking.
The school basketball team is recruiting new members. Jack tries his luck.
BUT, he cannot jump high. He cannot move fast. So Jack cannot join the team.
One day, at an Art lesson, the students are asked to draw about their favourite sport.
Jack draws his favourite basketball superstar, O'Neal. His picture looks very nice.
“This is O'Neal, my favourite basketball player. He's 2.16 metres tall, and weighs 147 kilograms. He's one of the heaviest players in the NBA. His nickname is ‘Shaq'. He's a basketball genius.” Jack shows the picture to the whole class excitedly.
“Great, Jack! You know a lot about basketball. You did a good job,” Miss Van praises his drawing. And the other students give him a big hand.
“YES! I'm not good at playing basketball, but l can do something else about basketball,” Jack thinks joyfully.
Jack draws many pictures about basketball every day. He practises hard to improve his drawing skills.
Jack makes posters for the school basketball team. He designs their logo too.
He draws basketball cartoons for the school newspaper. His pictures are highly popular among students.
Everyone knows Jack is a big basketball fan and has a talent for drawing.
The basketball coach says to Jack, “You're amazing. What would we do without you?”
