Eek, Spider!

It is rainy. Darcy runs into the house. She is wet and cold.

She takes off her shirt and shorts in the bathroom.

Darcy sees a spider on the window.

“Eek! Get it out!” Josh runs to help. “Don't hurt it!”

Josh takes the spider outside. But it is rainy and windy. (Josh) “It's too wet!”

Josh takes the spider back inside. Darcy is cross. “I don't like spiders.”

Josh holds out his hand. He shows Darcy the spider. “Spiders are clever. They make lovely webs.”

Darcy comes closer. She looks at the spider. “It is so tiny.”

“It just needs to be safe and warm,” says Josh. (Darcy) “There's a basket over there.”

Josh puts the spider in the basket. Darcy smiles. The spider is not so bad. “Thanks. It is safe now.”

Darcy takes Josh to see her football cup. (Darcy)“Look. I won this.” “Wow!”

Darcy takes the football cup to show Mum. Mum has the basket in her hand. “Where are the clothes?” asks Darcy. (Mum) “In the washing Machine.”

Darcy is very upset. The poor spider! What is Josh going to say?

“Why are you sad?” asks Mum. “It is sunny now.” Darcy looks through the window. What does she see?

The tiny spider, sitting in the sun.

Little Zoe Looking for Mum

Zoe is a little rabbit. One day she gets away from the zoo. She is lonely. She wants to find her mum.

Zoe meets a penguin. She asks, “Are you my mum?” “Sorry, I'm not your mum. You have four legs, but I don't.”

Zoe meets a zebra. She asks, “Are you my mum?” “Sorry, I'm not your mum. You have a short tail, but I don't.”

Zoe meets a tortoise. She asks, “Are you my mum?” “Sorry, I'm not your mum. You have long ears, but I don't.”

Zoe meets a dog. She asks, “Are you my mum?” “Sorry, I'm not your mum. You have red eyes, but I don't.”

Zoe is so sad that she starts to cry. Then, a bear comes. “What's wrong with you?” “I can't find my mum.” “Can you give me a hug?” “Of course!” “Can you play with me?” “Yes! Let's play!” “I like you! Can you be my mum?” “But I don't have long ears or red eyes.” “Can I have some carrot soup?” “I'm not good at cooking, but let me try.” “Look, my dear! Do you like this new bed?” “Of course! I love my bed, and I love this house!

From that day on, Zoe and her bear mum often help other lonely animals. Now they have a big and warm family. They give each other hugs, kisses, and love. They are so happy.

The Snake and the Drake

A duck and a drake had a nest by a lake.

One rainy day, a snake came to the nest.

The duck got away but the snake got the drake.

“Let go of my tail,” said the drake. “No,” said the snake. “I am going to eat you.”

“Will you eat me with some cake?” said the drake. “That is the best way to eat drake.”

“I can't make cake,” said the snake. “But Raven can make cake,” said the drake.

“Raven's cake is yummy.” said the drake. “He makes it every day.”

“What is in Raven's cake?” said the snake.

“Grapes and dates and raisins,” said the drake.

“Yum, yum,” said the snake. “What a shame I can't fly to Raven's nest.”

“But I can fly,” said the drake. “If you wait, I can get you some of Raven's yummy cake.”

“Okay. I will wait,” said the snake, and he let the drake get away.

Snake lay and waited. He waited all day. But the drake did not come back.

Snake is still waiting.
