The Ship of Friendship

A ship was hit by a storm at sea and only two good friends survived. However, depressed and worried, they blamed each other for the accident and couldn't forgive each other. They divided the island between them and stayed on the opposite sides of the island. They had nothing to do but pray to God.

As soon as the first man arrived, he started to pray for food. The next morning, he saw a lot of fruit on the trees on his side of the land. The man sat under the tree, enjoying the food in excitement. However, nothing appeared on the other man's land.

After a week, the first man prayed for a house, clothes and more food. To his great joy, all of these were given to him. However, the second man still had nothing.

Another week passed. The first man was so lonely that he decided to pray for a girl friend. To his surprise, he met a beautiful woman on the beach the next day. On the other side of the island, there was nothing.

Finally, the first man prayed for a big ship and decided to happily leave the second man on the island.

As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from the heaven, “Why are you leaving your friend on the island?”

“My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them,” the first man answered angrily, “None of his prayers were answered, so he does not deserve anything.”

“You are wrong!” the voice said, “He had only one prayer, which I answered. If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings.”

“Tell me,” the first man asked eagerly, “What did he pray for?”

“He prayed that all your prayers would be answered.”

...

Making friends can sometimes seem easy. The hardest part in friendship is to trust and help your friends during the ups and downs in our life. A true friend always puts his friend ahead of himself and sees things from his friend's point of view.
